Film Dragon Review -`ஃபயர் ஃபயரும்மா…’ அட்டகாசமான திரையனுபவமாகிறதா இந்த `டிராகன்’?
தன் வாழ்க்கையின் நலனுக்காக எந்தத் தவற்றையும் செய்யத் துணியும் இளைஞன், அதன் விளைவுகளை உணரும் கமெர்ஷியல் பயணமே இந்த ‘டிராகன்’.
48 அரியர்களுடன் கல்லூரியில் கெத்தாகத் திரிந்த ‘டி. ராகவன்’ என்கிற ‘டிராகன்’ (பிரதீப் ரங்கநாதன்), கல்லூரிக்குப் பின் பித்தலாட்டங்கள் செய்து, தான் வேலைக்குப் போவதாகப் பெற்றோரை நம்ப வைக்கிறார். இதனால், அவரின் காதலி கீர்த்தி (அனுபமா பரமேஸ்வரன்) ப்ரேக் அப் செய்து விட, உடைந்து போன டிராகன், குறுக்கு வழியில் வாழ்க்கையில் செட்டிலாக முடிவு செய்கிறார். 48 அரியரை முடித்ததாகப் பித்தலாட்டம் செய்து, போலி சான்றிதழுடன் நல்ல வேலையில் சேர்கிறார். சொந்த வீடு, விரைவில் பணக்காரத் திருமணம் என்று செட்டிலாகப் போகும் சமயத்தில், மீண்டும் அவரின் வாழ்க்கைக்குள் வருகிறார் கல்லூரி முதல்வரான மயில்வாகனம் (மிஷ்கின்). அதன் பின் டிராகன் தன் வாழ்வைக் காத்துக் கொள்ளச் செய்யும் சாகசங்களே இயக்குநர் அஸ்வத் மாரிமுத்துவின் இந்த ‘டிராகன்’.
கெத்தான கல்லூரி மாணவராக, காதலியிடம் சமாளிக்கும் இடங்களிலும், நண்பர்களுடன் லூட்டியடிக்கும் இடங்களிலும் தனக்காக எழுதப்பட்ட கதாபாத்திரமாகக் கச்சிதமாகப் பொருந்திப் போகிறார் பிரதீப் ரங்கநாதன். பல காட்சிகளில் ‘லவ் டுடே’வின் சாயல் எட்டிப்பார்த்தாலும், உணர்வுபூர்வமான தருணங்களைப் பக்குவமாகக் கையாண்டு தப்பிக்கிறார் ‘பி.ஆர்’. காலேஜ் ஹாஸ்டலில் செய்வதறியாது தவிக்கும் அந்தக் காட்சி அப்ளாஸ் ரகம்! துடிப்பான காதலி, பொறுப்பான முன்னாள் காதலி என இரண்டு மீட்டரிலும், குறைவில்லாத நடிப்பை வழங்கியிருக்கிறார் அனுபமா பரமேஸ்வரன். மற்றொரு நாயகியாக கயடு லோஹர் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் க்யூட்டான நடிப்பால் ஹார்ட்டின் வாங்குகிறார்.
டெம்ப்ளேட்டான ‘ஸ்ட்ரிக்ட் கல்லூரி முதல்வர்’ கதாபாத்திரத்தில் வந்தாலும், அதன் வோல்டேஜை அறிந்து, பக்குவமான நடிப்பை வழங்கி மனதில் நிற்கிறார் மிஷ்கின். அவரின் பாத்திரப் படைப்பும் வில்லனிசத்துக்குள் நுழையாமல் நியாயத்தின் பக்கம் நிற்பது முதிர்ச்சியானதொரு எழுத்து! ஜார்ஜ் மரியம், இந்துமதி மணிகண்டன் ஆகியோர் நடிப்பில் குறைகளில்லை. கௌதம் மேனன், கே.எஸ்.ரவிகுமார் ஆகியோர் வந்து போகிறார்கள். விஜே சித்து, ஹர்ஷத் கான் ஆகியோரின் கலகல மோடு நடிப்பை, கச்சிதமாகத் திரைக்கதைக்குப் பயன்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர்.
கலர்ஃபுல் காலேஜ் ஸ்டோரிக்குத் தேவையான ஒளிப்பதிவைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறது நிகேத் பொம்மியின் கேமரா. வெவ்வேறு காலகட்டக் கதைகளை நேர்கோட்டில் கச்சிதமாகக் கோர்த்ததோடு, கட்களால் கலகலப்பான காட்சிகளுக்குச் சுவாரஸ்யத்தையும் கூட்டியிருக்கிறது பிரதீப் இ.ராகவ்வின் படத்தொகுப்பு. முக்கியமாக, படத்தின் திரைமொழிக்கு மைலேஜைக் கூட்டியிருக்கிறது. லியோன் ஜேம்ஸ் இசையில் வரும் ஒரு டஜன் பாடல்களில், ‘வழித்துணையே’, ‘ரைஸ் ஆஃப் டிராகன்’ ஆகியவை மட்டும் முணுமுணுக்க வைக்கின்றன. தன் பின்னணி இசையால், பல காட்சிகளை மெருகேற்றி, தியேட்டர் மொமன்ட்களாகவும் மாற்றியிருக்கிறார்.
டிராகனின் கல்லூரி சேட்டைகள், நண்பர்களுடனான கொண்டாட்டம், காதல் தோல்வி, குடும்பப் பின்னணி என நகரும் முதல் பாதி திரைக்கதை, சில பல வழக்கமான காட்சிகளால் டல் அடித்தாலும், அதே வழக்கமான காட்சிகளைச் சின்ன சின்ன சுவாரஸ்ய திரைமொழியால் ரசிக்கும்படி மாற்றியிருக்கிறார் இயக்குநர். சில லாஜிக் ஓட்டைகள், முகம் சுழிக்க வைக்கும் கெட்ட வார்த்தைகள் போன்ற தடைகளைத் தாண்டி, இண்டர்வெலில் பீக் அடிக்கும் படம், இரண்டாம் பாதியில் பரபரப்போடு கலகலப்பும் சேர இரட்டை எஞ்ஜினில் பயணிக்கிறது.
முதற்பாதியில் தொடங்கிய கிளைக்கதைகள், இரண்டாம் பாதியில் முழுமையாக முடியும் இடம், எக்கச்சக்க கதாபாத்திரங்கள் வந்தாலும், அவற்றை இறுதிவரை கொண்டு வந்து, நிறைவோடு முடித்த விதம், சாதாரண பதற்றமான காட்சிகளைக் கூட தியேட்டர் மெட்டீரியலாக மாற்றி, கைதட்டல்களை அள்ளிய இடம், ‘கல்லூரி கெத்து’ வாழ்க்கைக்குப் பின் இருக்கும் உண்மை முகம் எனத் திரையெழுத்தில் கவனிக்க வைக்கிறார் அஸ்வத் மாரிமுத்து. பிக் பாஸ், ரீல்ஸ், யூடியூப் பிரபலங்கள் போன்ற ட்ரெண்ட் தூள்களைத் துருத்தலின்றி, திரையோட்டத்தில் தூவிய விதத்திற்கு ‘100 லைக்ஸ்’! ஓவர் டோஸான எமோஷனல் மோடில் வசனங்கள் வந்தாலும், கதைக்கருவிற்குத் தேவையான உணர்வுகளைத் தட்டியெழுப்ப முயன்றிருக்கின்றன.
மாஸ் மொமன்ட்டிற்காக தவறே செய்யாத காதலிக்கு, குற்றவுணர்வைத் தர வைப்பது, உணர்வுபூர்வமான தருணத்தைக் கொடுக்க இறுதிக்காட்சியை டிராகனின் வால் போல நீட்டிக்கொண்டே போனது, அதனால் இறங்கிய ‘வைப்’ மீட்டரை ஏற்றாமல் விட்டது எனச் சில சறுக்கல்கள் இரண்டாம் பாதியில் தொந்தரவாக அமைகின்றன.
எனினும் நல்லதொரு என்டர்டெயினராக நம்மை ஈர்க்கும் இந்த ‘டிராகனுக்கு’ நாமுமே ‘ஃபயர்’ விடலாம்!
Film Dragon Review –
‘Dragon’ is a commercial journey of a young man who dares to do any wrong for the good of his life, and feels the consequences.
‘Dragon’ (Pradeep Ranganathan), who was a college student with 48 Aryans, plays pranks after college and convinces his parents that he is going to work. Due to this, his girlfriend Keerthi (Anupama Parameswaran) breaks up with him, and the broken Dragon decides to settle down in life at a crossroads. He plays pranks saying that he has completed 48 Aryans and joins a good job with a fake certificate. Just when he is settling down with his own house and a rich marriage soon, the college principal Mayilvaganam (Mysskin) comes back into his life. After that, the adventures that make Dragon save his life are the adventures of director Aswath Marimuthu.
Pradeep Ranganathan perfectly fits into the character written for him as a tough college student, where he has to deal with his girlfriend and where he has to fight with his friends. Although there are hints of ‘Love Today’ in many scenes, ‘PR’ manages to escape the emotional moments with maturity. That scene of him struggling to do anything in the college hostel is a applause-worthy one! Anupama Parameswaran has given an impeccable performance in both the roles of a vibrant girlfriend and a responsible ex-girlfriend. Gayadu Lohar, another heroine, wins hearts with her cute performance in the second half.
Even though he comes in the template ‘strict college principal’ role, Mysskin knows its voltage and delivers a mature performance. His character creation is also a mature writing, standing on the side of justice without entering villainy! George Mariam and Indumathi Manikandan are flawless in their performances. Gautham Menon and K.S. Ravikumar come and go. The director has perfectly used the lively performances of Vijay Sidhu and Harshad Khan for the screenplay.
Niketh Bommi’s camera has provided the necessary cinematography for the colorful college story. In addition to perfectly connecting the stories of different periods in a linear manner, Pradeep E. Raghav’s editing has added interest to the lively scenes with cuts. Most importantly, it has added mileage to the film’s language. Of the dozen songs in Leon James’ music, only ‘Vazhithunaiye’ and ‘Rise of Dragon’ make you hum. With his background music, he has polished many scenes and turned them into theatrical moments.
The first half of the screenplay, which moves around Dragon’s college pranks, celebrations with friends, love failures, and family background, is dulled by some very routine scenes, but the director has transformed those routine scenes into something enjoyable with small, interesting screenplays. Overcoming obstacles such as some logic holes and obnoxious bad language, the film peaks during the interval, and travels on a double engine in the second half, combining excitement with excitement.
The branching stories that started in the first half, where they are fully completed in the second half, the way in which even though there are so many characters, they are brought to the end and completed with satisfaction, where even ordinary tense scenes are turned into theater material and applauded, and the true face behind the life of a ‘college geethu’ are all made noticeable in the screenplay by Aswath Marimuthu. ‘100 likes’ for the way the trending powders like Bigg Boss, Reels, and YouTube celebrities were sprinkled into the screenplay without any fuss! Even though the dialogues come in an emotional mode, they have tried to evoke the emotions needed for the storyline.
