Increasing teenage pregnancies-அதிகரிக்கும் பதின்வயது கர்ப்பங்கள்… தடுத்து நிறுத்த, ஒவ்வொருவரும் களமாடுவோம்… வாருங்கள் தோழிகளே!
தமிழ்நாட்டில் பதின்வயது கர்ப்பங்கள் கடந்த ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளில் அதிகரித்திருப்பது, அதிர்ச்சியைக் கூட்டியுள்ளது. 2019- 2024 காலகட்டத்தில் 62,870 பதின்பருவ அம்மாக்கள் இனம் காணப்பட்டிருப்பதாக தமிழ்நாடு பொது சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் மருத்துவ ஆராய்ச்சி இதழின் சமீபத்திய ஆய்வு மூலம் தெரியவந்துள்ளது.
2019-20 காலகட்டத்தில் 1.1% ஆக பதிவான பதின்பருவ கர்ப்பங்கள், 2023-24 காலகட்டத்தில் 1.5% ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளன. மாநிலத்திலேயே மிக அதிகமாக நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டத்தில் 3.3% எனப் பதிவாகியுள்ளது. தேனி, பெரம்பலூர், சேலம், மதுரை ஆகிய மாவட்டங்கள் அடுத்தடுத்த இடங்களில் நிற்கின்றன.
பள்ளி இடைநிற்றல், குழந்தைத் திருமணம், சமூக விழிப்பு உணர்வின்மை, பாலியல் வன்முறை, பாலியல் ஈர்ப்பு என இதற்கான காரணிகள் பல. ஒவ்வொரு பிரச்னைக்கும் தனித்தனி கவனம் கொடுத்து அரசு, சமூகம், குடும்பங்கள், தன்னார்வ அமைப்புகள் அனைத்தும் தீவிரமாகக் களமாட வேண்டும் என்பதையே இது உணர்த்துகிறது.
குடும்பங்களால் திணிக்கப்படும் திருமணங்களில் இருந்து குழந்தைகளைக் காக்க ஹெல்ப்லைன் எண்கள் 1098 மற்றும் 181, மத்திய அரசின் ஒருங்கிணைந்த சேவை மையங்கள் (One Stop Centre), மாநில அரசின் சமூகநலத்துறையினர், மாவட்ட குழந்தை பாதுகாப்பு பிரிவினர் என அமைப்புகள் களத்தில் இருக்கின்றன. அனைத்தையும் மீறி குழந்தைத் திருமணங்கள் தொடர்கின்றன என்றால், அரசின் நடவடிக்கைகள் இன்னும் அதிகரிக்கப்பட வேண்டும். விழிப்பு உணர்வு ஊட்டும் பணிகள் அதிகரிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
டீன் வயது காதல்கள், பாலின ஈர்ப்பு போன்றவையும் பருவவயது கர்ப்பங்களுக்குக் காரணமாகின்றன. பெற்றோர் இந்த கசப்பான நிலவரத்தை புரிந்து, பிள்ளைகளிடம் பக்குவமாக நடந்து அவர்களை நெறிப்படுத்த வேண்டும். பாலியல் கல்வி, பதின் வயதுகளில் கர்ப்பமடைவதில் உள்ள ஆபத்துகள் மற்றும் சிக்கல்கள் பற்றியெல்லாம் பக்குவமாக விழிப்பு உணர்வு ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும். கர்ப்பத்தடை வழிகள் பற்றிய அறிவூட்டலும், அதற்கான அணுகலும் குழந்தைகளுக்கு வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
பள்ளி இடைநிற்றல்களை தீவிரமாகக் கண்காணித்து, சுழியம் என்கிற நிலைக்குக் கொண்டு செல்ல பள்ளிக்கல்வித்துறையும் பெற்றோரும் செயலாற்ற வேண்டும்.
பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகளால் பெண் குழந்தைகள் கர்ப்பமாக்கப்படுவது, கொடுமையான அவலம். நம் வீட்டில் மட்டுமல்ல… அக்கம்பக்கம், தெரு, ஊர், கல்விக்கூடங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்து இடங்களிலும் பதின்வயது பெண்களின் பாதுகாப்பில், நம்மால் முடிந்த பொறுப்பினை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வோம் தோழிகளே. பத்திரமாக அவர்களை அனுப்பி வைப்போம் உயர் கல்விக்கும்… உயர் வாழ்க்கைக்கும்!

Increasing teenage pregnancies… Let’s all take action to stop it… Come on, friends!
The increase in teenage pregnancies in Tamil Nadu in the last five years has been shocking. A recent study by the Tamil Nadu Journal of Public Health and Medical Research has revealed that 62,870 teenage mothers were identified during the period 2019-2024.
Teenage pregnancies, which were recorded at 1.1% during the period 2019-20, have increased to 1.5% during the period 2023-24. The highest in the state was recorded in Nagapattinam district at 3.3%. The districts of Theni, Perambalur, Salem and Madurai stand in the next places.
There are many factors for this, such as school dropout, child marriage, lack of social awareness, sexual violence, and sexual attraction. This shows that the government, society, families, and voluntary organizations should take a serious stand by paying separate attention to each problem.
To protect children from marriages imposed by families, organizations such as helpline numbers 1098 and 181, Central Government’s Integrated Service Centers (One Stop Center), State Government’s Social Welfare Department, and District Child Protection Units are in the field. If child marriages continue despite all, then the government’s actions should be increased further. Awareness-raising activities should be increased.
Teen romances, sexual attraction, etc. are also the cause of teenage pregnancies. Parents should understand this bitter situation and behave maturely with their children and discipline them. Sexual education, the dangers and problems of teenage pregnancy should be created in a mature manner. Children should be provided with knowledge about contraceptive methods and access to them.
The school education department and parents should work hard to monitor school dropouts and bring them to zero.
It is a terrible tragedy that girls are getting pregnant due to sexual violence. Not only in our homes… in our neighborhoods, streets, towns, and educational institutions, let us take the responsibility we can for the safety of teenage girls, my friends. Let us send them safely to higher education… to a higher life!
