தமிழ் திரையுலகில் முன்னணி கதாநாயகியாக திகழ்ந்தவர் காஞ்சனா. இவர் தமிழ், மலையாளம், தெலுங்கு கன்னடா என பல்வேறு மொழிப்படங்களில் நடித்துள்ளார். எம்ஜிஆர், சிவாஜி கணேசன், ஜெமினி கணேசன், ரவிச்சந்தர் போன்ற முன்னணி நடிகர்களுடன் இணைந்து நடித்துள்ளார்.
“காதலிக்க நேரமில்லை” என்ற திரைப்படத்தின் மூலம் இவர் தமிழ் சினிமாவிற்கு அறிமுகமானார். வசுந்தரா தேவி என்ற இயற்பெயரை கொண்ட காஞ்சனா திரைத்துறைக்காக இயக்குனர் ஸ்ரீதர் அந்த பெயரை மாற்றியுள்ளார். 46 ஆண்டுகள் சினிமாவில் ஓய்வே இல்லாமல் நடித்த இவர் கடந்த ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு வெளியான அர்ஜுன் ரெட்டி படத்தில் கூட பாட்டியாக நடித்திருந்தார் காஞ்சனா.
தற்போது இவருக்கு 85 வயது ஆகிறது, இவர் தான் சினிமாவில் சம்பாதித்த பணத்தில் வாங்கிய சொத்துகளை கோயிலுக்கு எழுதி வைத்துள்ளார்.
சினிமாவில் தான் சம்பாதித்த பணத்தில் சென்னை தியாகராயர் நகரில் சொத்துகளை வாங்கியுள்ளார். அந்த சொத்துகளை அவரது உறவினர்கள் அபகரித்துக் கொண்டதாக சமீபத்தில் பேட்டி ஒன்றில் கூறியிருந்தார். அந்த சொத்துகள் மீண்டும் தனக்கு திருப்பி கிடைத்தால் திருப்பதி வெங்கடாசலபதிக்கு எழுதி வைப்பதாக வேண்டிக் கொண்டதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.
இந்த சொத்து வழக்கில் இவருக்கு சாதகமான தீர்ப்பு வரவே, ரூ.80 கோடி மதிப்புள்ள சொத்துக்களை ஏழுமலையானுக்கு எழுதி வைத்ததாகவும் அவர் கூறினார். இவருக்கு தற்போது வரை திருமணம் ஆகவில்லை. ”முதுமைடைந்து அல்லது உடல் ரீதியாக செயல் இழந்து போகும் தான் இந்த வயதில் உயிர் வாழ்வது உண்மையிலே எவ்வளவு பெரிய அதிசயம் என்று நான் உணர்கிறேன்” என்றும் “இந்த உலகில் எதுவும் நிரந்தரம் இல்லை” என்றும் அந்த பேட்டியில் நடிகை காஞ்சனா கூறியிருந்தார்.

She made her debut in Tamil cinema with the film “Kadhalikka Neramilli”. Kanchana, whose real name was Vasundhara Devi, changed her name for the film industry by director Sridhar. After acting in cinema for 46 years without a break, Kanchana had also played a grandmother in the film Arjun Reddy released years ago.
She is now 85 years old, and she has left the properties she bought with the money she earned in cinema to the temple.
